Melville Island Lodge operates from two fabulous and exclusive locations on Melville Island; our Melville Lodge headquarters located at Snake Bay, plus our ultra remote Johnson River Camp situated in the picturesque upper reaches of the Johnson River.
Melville Lodge is situated on the fringe of Milikapati, a friendly Melville Island township, which is also known as Snake Bay. Our purpose-built Lodge, which is arguably the best located and most comfortable tropical fishing destination in the Northern Territory, is positioned high on the waters edge with sweeping views over beautiful Snake Bay and the Timor Sea.
In order to enhance your experience of remoteness and being away from it all, accommodation and fishing at the Lodge is limited to a maximum of 18 guests. This also enables our experienced team to provide you with a superior level of personalised service and attention designed to make your visit enjoyable, thoroughly relaxing, and with the very best and most productive fishing experience possible.
But, getting off the beaten-track doesn't mean having to go without, because our lodge has 240v power, hot showers, flushing toilets, phone, fax & email access (if you need it), plus a wide range of other day to day ‘normalities' and creature comforts seldom associated with remote fishing destinations in the Northern Territory.
The main building is the centre of activity at the lodge and houses a spacious, well appointed and comfortable indoor--outdoor dining area, licensed bar, guest lounge area and other facilities. Open to cooling sea breezes, with magnificent 270 degree river and ocean views, the main building is the perfect place to relax after your day on the water. The main building also offers 24 hour guest access to tea & coffee making facilities, cold drinks and snacks. Surrounding the main building are our guest rooms. Our comfortable air-conditioned rooms are a combination of single and twin-share cabins with queen size and/or king-single beds. Adjacent to the cabins are our guest bathrooms which include a private ladies bathroom complete with its own toilet, shower and dressing area.
Meals
One of the many highlights at Melville Island Lodge is the high quality of our meal service. We will get you started each morning with a range of hearty breakfast choices that include bacon & eggs, cereals, toast, fresh fruit, juice, tea and coffee. Breakfast is usually served around 7.00am with our aim being to have you on the water fishing by 7.30am each morning.
At an appropriate time during the day, your guide will park your boat in a shaded area of the river you are fishing in to prepare your on-board lunch. Alternatively, if you are planning some non-fishing activities during the afternoon, you may choose to have lunch back at the lodge. The choice is yours.
When you return to the lodge after your day's activities, you may like to wander across to the main building to relax and share the experiences of your day whilst enjoying the wonderful ocean views and sea breezes. Whilst you're there, help yourself to some freshly prepared hors d'oeuvres and a drink or two from our licensed bar. Dinner is served around 7.00pm with our chef preparing sumptuous meals suited to our tropical climate. As might be expected, barramundi and other freshly caught local fish are regular dinner favourites, our chef's fabulous barramundi in tempura batter being popular amongst our regular guests.
Please let us know in advance if you have any particular dietary requirements or allergies, likes and dislikes and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs during your stay.
